The Osun State Government has temporarily shut the newly commissioned Lameco Flyover in Osogbo after a structural defect was discovered on the bridge, less than a month after it was opened to traffic.
One lane of the flyover was cordoned off on Friday during a visit by The PUNCH, while videos circulating on social media showed visible cracks on a section of the bridge.
The development has triggered a political row, with the Accord Party alleging sabotage and the All Progressives Congress questioning the quality of the project.
Reacting, the Osun State Chairman of the Accord Party, Victor Akande, claimed the party had received reports of what it described as a “disturbing pattern of vandalisation targeting public infrastructure delivered by the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke.”
