Nentawe Yilwatda, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), on Tuesday, declared the August 15, 2026 Osun State Governorship election a crucial test of the party’s readiness for the 2027 general elections, just as he inaugurated a 292-member National Campaign Council in Abuja.
BusinessDay reports that the Council is chaired by Hope Uzodimma, Governor of Imo State and Chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum (PGF).
Yilwatda said the APC commands unmatched political strength, with its ranks bolstered by serving governors, federal lawmakers, former public office holders and a steady influx of defectors from opposition parties, positioning the party to win elections at every level.
BusinessDay recalls that Osun is currently under the control of the Accord party with Governor Ademola Adeleke seeking re-election on the party’s platform.
