The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the August 15 Osun State governorship election, Bola Oyebamiji, has congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke on his victory while demanding an end to alleged attacks, killings and intimidation of opposition members across the state.
Oyebamiji made the call in a statement addressed to APC members and supporters on Saturday, August 29, following the declaration of Adeleke as the winner of the governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He said his congratulatory message was in the spirit of democracy and coincided with the 35th anniversary of the creation of Osun State.
Adeleke secured 511,067 votes to defeat Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815 votes in the election.
While acknowledging Adeleke’s victory, the APC candidate urged the governor, as the state’s Chief Security Officer, to take immediate steps to protect the lives and property of all residents, particularly during the post-election period.
