The Sokoto State Police Command has arrested four suspects in separate operations involving alleged vandalism, theft and receiving stolen property, recovering a stolen motorcycle, copper wiring and 28 grinding machines worth millions of naira.
The arrests were made by the command’s Strike Force in a series of coordinated operations carried out between July 24 and July 29 across different parts of Sokoto metropolis.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmad Rufa’i, the first operation followed a complaint by Garba Ahmad of the Kwanni area, who reported that a suspect, Mustapha Umar, allegedly broke into the National Veterinary Research Institute in Kwanni through the ceiling and vandalised electrical installations.
The police said the suspect allegedly stole copper wiring, a submersible pump and garlic from the facility before he was tracked down and arrested by Strike Force operatives.
