In a major operation, aimed at curbing violent crimes, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command has dismantled an illegal firearm fabrication syndicate and arrested three suspected cultists , linked to the unlawful possession and manufacturing of weapons.
Timfon John, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, in a statement, said the operation was intelligence driven.
According to her, the operation led to the recovery of a locally fabricated double-barrelled cartridge gun and the uncovering of an illicit arms production network, operating within the state.
”Operatives of the command arrested one Miracle Udo, a native of Cross River State, residing at Ikot Obio Offiong in Ibesikpo local Government area on July, 24,2026.
The Police recovered a locally fabricated double barrel cartridge gun from the suspect at the point of arrest.
During interrogation, Miracle Udo reportedly confessed to possessing the firearm and identified one Edet Okon as the person, who supplied the weapon.
