The Benue State Police Command has dismantled two illegal firearm manufacturing factories in Buruku and Kwande local government areas and arrested suspected gunrunners in operations aimed at curbing the spread of illicit weapons.

Commissioner of Police Cletus Nwadiobu disclosed this while briefing journalists in Makurdi on the command’s recent successes against violent crime.

In Buruku Local Government Area, police raided an illegal firearm factory, arrested one suspect, and recovered two locally fabricated AK-47 rifles along with manufacturing tools and accessories.

A separate operation in Adikpo, Kwande Local Government Area, led to the arrest of another suspect and the recovery of five locally made English pistols.

Nwadiobu said the suspects are in custody and will be charged to court once investigations are completed.

In a related operation, the command dismantled a suspected armed robbery gang linked to violent crimes in Buruku and surrounding communities.
