The Osun State Police Command on Monday paraded a suspect, Kareem Saheed, popularly known as Tanfeani, and 23 others arrested for offences ranging from alleged membership of unlawful groups to political thuggery and other violent crimes across the state.
Saheed is alleged to have led a group of hoodlums to the entrance of the Irepodun Local Government Secretariat in Ilobu on June 21, when a 14-year-old boy, Ezekiel Olapade, was shot dead.
The suspects were paraded at the Police Command Headquarters in Osogbo by the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan.
The PUNCH recalls that the deceased’s father, Gbenga Olapade, had alleged that Saheed led the group that attacked his wife’s palm wine bar located opposite the Irepodun Local Government Secretariat.
According to him, the hoodlums allegedly opened fire after spotting a man wearing a yellow cap inside the bar, and a stray bullet hit his son, Ezekiel, who later died.
