The Kano State Police Command has rescued a nine-year-old boy, Ubaiyu Muhammad Sammani, who was kidnapped in Kano, and arrested 10 suspects allegedly involved in the abduction.
The command said the victim, a resident of Rimin Kebbe Quarters, was rescued unhurt on Friday after weeks of intelligence-led operations by the Anti-Kidnapping Unit.
The Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Kiyawa, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday.
Kiyawa said the operation was carried out under the supervision of the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori.
According to the statement, the boy was kidnapped on July 6, while his father reported the incident to the police on July 9 after the abductors demanded a ransom of $30,000 for his release.
Following the report, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit launched an intensive investigation, deploying intelligence gathering, technical support and community-based information, which led to the arrest of 10 suspects comprising nine
