Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has pledged that his administration’s immediate focus is on reuniting the pupils and teachers rescued from captivity in Oriire Local Government Area with their families and ensuring their rehabilitation after 56 harrowing days in the hands of abductors.
In a statement shared on his X handle, Makinde expressed gratitude for the victims’ safe return and assured that the state government would provide the necessary support to help them recover from the physical and emotional trauma of their ordeal.
“Our priority now is to ensure they are reunited with their families and support their rehabilitation after this traumatic experience,” he said.
The governor commended the courage and professionalism of the security agencies involved in the rescue operation, while paying tribute to those who lost their lives in the line of duty.
His remarks followed confirmation from the Presidency that the victims were freed during a coordinated security operation.
