On a Monday evening in Lagos State, a prospective corps member, Oluwakemisola (surname withheld), sat glued to her phone, refreshing the National Youth Service Corps portal every minute.
Like many other thousands of fresh graduates awaiting mobilisation, she was eager to begin the one-year mandatory programme, which, for many decades, has symbolised patriotism, national integration, and the transition into adulthood.
As she awaited mobilisation for the scheme, she expressed hope of being deployed in the next batch of Batch B Stream 2 of 2026.
