The Rivers State Government says it has no outstanding financial commitments to the Nigerian Legion, Rivers State Chapter, and has described contrary claims as untrue.
The government made its position known in a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Sunday by Juliana Masi, Head of the Information and Public Relations Unit at the Office of the Secretary to the State Government.
Masi said the administration of Governor Siminalayi Fubara has continued to provide support to the Nigerian Legion and remains concerned about the welfare of veterans, ex-servicemen, widows and relatives of fallen military personnel.
She explained that the governor had fulfilled the commitment he made earlier this year during the Armed Forces Remembrance and Celebration.
“Governor Siminalayi Fubara has fully redeemed the pledge made during the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance and Celebration,” she said.
