Some Monarchies Better Than APC, Says Ex-Party Chief Salihu Lukman

Former All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain Salihu Lukman has declared that certain monarchical systems of government are preferable to the current state of the ruling party, arguing that none of its democratic structures are functioning.

Speaking in an interview on Trust TV on Monday, Lukman said he once believed President Bola Tinubu and the APC were committed democrats ahead of the 2023 elections. 

“But now some monarchies are better,” he stated. “There is no structure of democracy that is functioning in the APC.”

A monarchy is a system in which a single individual, such as a king or queen, serves as head of state.

Lukman, who left the APC, briefly joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), and later suspended his membership of that party, criticised the APC’s internal operations.
