Business executives, professionals and media practitioners have warned that forcing South African firms out of Nigeria over xenophobic attacks could inflict greater economic damage on the country.
They said this while reacting to public outrage in Nigeria over the ongoing xenophobic attacks in South Africa.

Some Nigerians have called for South African businesses operating in the country to be shut down as retaliation for the xenophobic attacks.
Specifically, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has threatened to shut the operations of MTN Nigeria and MultiChoice over renewed xenophobic attacks against Nigerians and other African nationals in South Africa.
NANS National President, Comrade Babatunde Akinteye, had urged Nigerians to close their Stanbic IBTC Bank accounts and boycott other South African owned businesses if the attacks persisted.
