Terroso Agriculture has joined the Global Cold Chain Alliance, the world’s leading body for temperature-controlled warehousing and logistics, as part of a push to modernize Nigeria’s food preservation system.
The move comes as Nigeria loses N3.5 trillion of its agricultural output to post-harvest waste each year, with poor storage and transport infrastructure forcing farmers to sell quickly in open markets.
Through the GCCA membership, Terroso Agriculture, a subsidiary of Terroso Group, said it will build world-class cold chain facilities to extend shelf life, reduce losses, and strengthen supply chains for crops including plantain, tomatoes and vegetables across Nigeria.
It will leverage global expertise, industry standards, research and strategic partnerships to accelerate the development of modern cold storage facilities, temperature-controlled logistics and innovative preservation technologies.
