President Bola Tinubu has called on Nigerian medical professionals abroad to return home and contribute to the transformation of the nation’s healthcare system under his Renewed Hope Agenda.
Speaking at the 2026 National Diaspora Day Celebration in Abuja, Tinubu welcomed a delegation of Nigerian Diaspora Medical Associations Worldwide led by NIDCOM CEO Abike Dabiri-Erewa.
He emphasized that Nigeria needs the innovation, expertise, and patriotism of its skilled professionals abroad to build a resilient, world-class healthcare system.
“There’s nowhere like home,” Tinubu said, recounting his own decision to return after working with Deloitte and Mobil. He stressed that healthcare is central to his administration’s development agenda, with reforms aimed at strengthening primary care, expanding access, and reversing brain drain through improved welfare, medical education, and digital health infrastructure.
The president praised diaspora doctors for their recent medical outreach programmes across Nigeria, which provided specialist care, surgeries, consultations, and health education to thousands.
