President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening and modernising the Nigerian Army as Nigeria faces intensifying security challenges.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the 163rd Nigerian Army Day Celebration in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Tinubu represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima said his government would deploy emerging technologies and enhance operational capabilities to improve combat readiness and national defence.
“My administration is firmly committed to countering contemporary threats through the adoption of emerging technologies and the building of capacity across all battle spaces,” he stated.
Tinubu highlighted ongoing investment in research and development within the Armed Forces, stressing the revitalisation of the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) as central to boosting local defence manufacturing, creating jobs, and supporting counter-terrorism operations.
He also welcomed the African Land Forces Forum as a platform to strengthen regional security cooperation.
