Tinubu Showcases Health Sector Reforms, Highlights Major Gains

President Bola Tinubu has outlined what he described as landmark achievements in Nigeria’s health sector, stressing that ongoing reforms are expanding access to care, strengthening the workforce, and improving outcomes nationwide.

In a post on his X handle, Tinubu said every Nigerian deserves quality healthcare regardless of location or income. 

He noted that since assuming office, his administration has embarked on one of the most ambitious health reforms in decades through the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.

According to him, the reforms include revitalising thousands of Primary Healthcare Centres, expanding health insurance coverage, immunising millions of children, upgrading specialist hospitals, and positioning Nigeria as a hub for pharmaceutical manufacturing and healthcare investment.

The President highlighted key milestones:

Health insurance expansion: Six million more Nigerians added.Primary Healthcare Centres: 4,161 under revitalisation, with 3,158 completed; over 14,000 now functional.

Immunisation campaigns: More than 102 million children vaccinated against Measles-Rubella; 17.1 million girls protected against cervical cancer
