African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, on Thursday accused President Bola Tinubu of interfering in the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) election, describing it as a test run for rigging the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued by his Media Office, the former vice president alleged that Tinubu had imported what he called “state-sponsored toxic politics of coronation” into the NBA poll, claiming that the government was using the courts and security agencies to impose its preferred candidate.
Atiku argued that the NBA election, traditionally overseen by the Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (ECNBA), had been compromised by government influence. He warned that the same tactics disqualifying candidates through the courts and manipulating institutions were being prepared for the 2027 elections.
“The desperation shows how the Tinubu-led APC government plans to use government agencies to rig the 2027 general elections,” the statement read.
