Two separate fire outbreaks were recorded in Dawakin Tofa and Kumbotso Local Government Areas of Kano State, affecting an Access Bank branch and a residential building.
The Kano State Fire Service disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, by its Public Relations Officer, Saminu Yusif Abdullahi.
According to the statement, the first incident occurred at about 1:17 pm on Monday at Bank, Dawanau, in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area, after the agency received a distress call from a man identified as Michael.
Firefighters from the Dawanau Fire Station responded to the scene and found a one-storey building measuring about 100 by 80 feet, which was being used as a bank branch.
The statement said the fire affected a Mikano generator, which was completely engulfed, while an electrical transformer was slightly affected.
