The United Kingdom has medically evacuated a humanitarian worker from the Democratic Republic of the Congo to London after a potential healthcare-related exposure to Ebola.
“The precautionary evacuation was arranged by the UK government in collaboration with the National Health Service, the DRC government and international health partners,” a Tuesday release on the UK Home Office website obtained by our correspondent disclosed this.
The individual, a UK resident working with a humanitarian organisation supporting the Ebola outbreak response in the DRC, is not displaying any symptoms and remains well, according to the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) on Tuesday.
The person was flown to the UK on a flight chartered solely for the evacuation and is now being assessed and monitored in isolation by infectious disease specialists at a London hospital.
