The University of Greenwich and the University of Kent in the United Kingdom (UK) have completed a merger to establish the country’s first “super-university”.
The official launch of the formed entity, called the London and South East University Group (LASE), is scheduled for September 7, 2026, with events planned across all four participating campuses.
The consolidation makes LASE the third-largest higher education provider in the country and will create a higher education group designed to navigate the severe economic headwinds currently threatening British universities.

The entity will house more than 50,000 students across four campuses in Greenwich, Avery Hill, Medway, and Canterbury.
Under the new operational framework, both institutions will retain their individual names, distinct branding, and academic divisions.
