We have lost confidence – UEFA asks Infantino to resign as FIFA president

UEFA are demanding for FIFA president Gianni Infantino to resign, after he scrapped the “shabby, back-room deal” to sell stakes in the World Cup.

Infantino tried to sell a £3.1 billion stake to a group of private investors led by Josh Kushner, who is an extended relation of US President Donald Trump –

But his plans collapsed on Friday night and he has since made a u-turn following widespread backlash.

In a statement on Saturday morning, UEFA have declared a loss of confidence in Infantino.

“We cannot keep going on like this with secret schemes on fast-track timescales, cooked up by faceless individuals and of dubious benefit to the game. We must identify those responsible and hold them to account,” the statement read in part.

“It is right that, in the coming days and weeks, UEFA will work with its associations and in close cooperation with other confederations to reflect on how this happened
