Why Amaechi, Five Governors Dumped Jonathan, Left PDP – Ex-Senator Reveals

Former Senator Ben Murray-Bruce has opened up on the political events that led to the exit of former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, and five other governors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2015 general election.

According to Murray-Bruce, the crisis that weakened the ruling party at the time was largely caused by poor decisions and bad advice given to former President Goodluck Jonathan by some of his close aides.

Speaking during an event captured in a video circulating online, the former lawmaker said repeated warnings about growing dissatisfaction among key PDP governors were ignored by those around the former President.

He said despite clear signs that major political figures within the party were unhappy and considering defection, some presidential aides failed to treat the matter with urgency.
