Winners Emerge in Gombe Local Government Elections


The All Progressives Congress (APC) has swept the just-concluded local government elections across the state.

According to the Gombe State Independent Electoral Commission, the ruling party secured all 24 chairmanship seats and all 240 councillorship positions up for grabs.

The victory covers the state’s 11 local government areas as well as the 13 newly created Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the election was conducted across 114 wards and 2,988 polling units in the state. A total of six political parties participated in the chairmanship race, with the APC competing alongside the Youth Party, National Rescue Movement, Zenith Labour Party, African Action Congress, and the Democratic Liberation Alliance.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya who voted at the Yahaya Umaru Polling Unit in Gombe local government area, praised the peaceful and smooth conduct of the polls. The governor voiced satisfaction with the reports flowing in from various parts of the state, noting
