Yobe State Govt Approves ₦460.8 Million to Empower Akara Sellers

The Yobe State Government has approved the sum of ₦460.83 million to empower female small-scale business owners, particularly akara sellers, across the state.  

  

The decision was reached at the State Executive Council meeting chaired by Governor Mai Mala Buni at the Government House in Damaturu on Thursday.

Briefing journalists after the meeting, the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Information and Culture, Abdullahi Bego, explained that the intervention aims to support women in small businesses by providing essential materials to enhance their livelihoods.  

  

 “The State Executive Council has approved the sum of N460,828,450.00 for the procurement of beans for distribution to female small business owners as empowerment support,” Bego said.

The package includes 1,780 bags of 50kg beans, along with cooking oil, smokeless stoves, cooking utensils, and kitchenware  items already procured and stored by the Ministry of Wealth Creation, Empowerment and Employment Generation.
