‘You privatized government assets, left pensioners unpaid’ – Tinubu knocks Atiku

President Bola Tinubu has blasted the African Democratic Congress, ADC, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar for privatizing government assets and leaving pensioners unpaid.

Tinubu said this on Thursday during his meeting with Northeast stakeholders who paid him a thank-you visit for re-nominating Vice President Kashim Shettima as his running mate.

According to the president, he is now paying the pension backlog created during Atiku’s era as Vice President when they privatize government investment in public entities.

He said, “Nigerians are not asking for too much. Simple stability and social welfare, and among the visitors today are some pensioners.

“I hope you’re receiving your pension. If I can go political, somebody among my prospective opponents privatized government investment in public entities but forgot to pay the pensions.

“I’m clearing the pensioners now, so clearing the mess they created. But I won’t complain.

“We have our hands on the plough. We’re never going to look back, I promise you. Through the twists and turns of this democracy, Nigeria will survive.

“I will find our unity in diversity a good path for democratic stability and prosperity in the country. I promise you, we’ll do our best.”
