Armstrong ‘Tope Akintunde, Convener of the Yayi Progressives Movement, has said the group’s recent solidarity trek involving youths and students was organised to demonstrate support for the political aspirations of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Dapo Abiodun and Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi).
According to Akintunde, the exercise was aimed at backing President Bola Tinubu’s expected bid for a second term in office, Governor Abiodun’s reported Senatorial ambition and Solomon Adeola’s Governorship aspiration in Ogun State ahead of the 2027 general elections on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking at the Ake Palace in Abeokuta, Akintunde said the movement was motivated by what it described as the economic reforms of the Tinubu administration, as well as the developmental initiatives and empowerment programmes of Governor Abiodun and Senator Adeola.
