Julie Obeta emerges Labour Party Dep Governorship candidate in Benue

Julie Obeta has been unveiled as the Deputy Governroship candidate for the Labour Party in Benue State.

The party announced the emergence of Obeta on Monday, June 1, 2026, at the party secretariat along Otukpo Road, Makurdi, Benue state.

Her unveiling followed the emergence of  Mathias Byuan as the party’s governorship candidate in the state.

Speaking at the event, Byuan said the move is part of the Labour Party’s efforts to strengthen women’s participation in governance.

He also explained that Obeta was unanimously selected after consultations with stakeholders across the state.

“We have consulted widely with the party stakeholders across the state and today and they unanimously elected Mrs Julie Obeta as the first female governorship candidate who by the grace of God comes 2027 will be the first female deputy governor of Benue State,” Byuan said.
