Agency presents new regulatory laws to boost electricity

The Anambra State Electricity Regulatory Commission says four new regulatory bills have been signed into law to improve electricity supply in the state.

The commission pointed out that the laws are aimed at breaking down the monopoly of the FirstPower Electricity Distribution Company Limited, a subsidiary of Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, which is in charge of power distribution in Anambra.

The presentation of the Regulatory Instruments took place at the Old Government House in Awka on Tuesday.

The ASERC Chairman, Prof. Frank Nwoye Okafor, said the commission under his watch is tasked with regulating the Anambra electricity market and ensuring compliance with the state governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo’s Integrated Electricity Policy and Strategic Implementation Plan.
