Former Campaign Council spokesman, Umar Sani, has dismissed claims that Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), despite his recent alliance with the Alliance Peoples Movement (APM).
Speaking on TVC’s FireWorks, Sani described Makinde as “Chairman of a one-man governor’s forum,” stressing that the governor has not made any categorical declaration of leaving the PDP.
Makinde had earlier announced that a faction of the PDP was in alliance with APM and even declared his presidential ambition under the platform.
However, Sani insisted that only the PDP’s National Working Committee (NWC) has the authority to determine Makinde’s fate.“Makinde is a governor and he knows the implications. If he didn’t discuss it with party leadership, it will now be left for the NWC to decide what actions to take,” Sani said.
