Senator Adams Oshiomhole, representing Edo North, has sharply criticized the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), describing it as a “house of thieves.”
His remarks came during a Senate Public Accounts Committee session probing alleged misappropriation of trillions of naira.
The controversy was triggered by claims from former NNPC Chief Financial Officer, Umar Aliya, who suggested that some officials were lobbying for their children to be employed in the company.
Reacting angrily, Oshiomhole accused the corporation of lacking integrity and said such demands reflected attempts to extend the benefits of corruption to family members.
“I heard you saying that people want their children to be employed in NNPC. That is because it is a house of thieves and they want their children to benefit from it. NNPC has no reputation; your reputation is for fraud,” he declared.
