Seriake Dickson, national leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and senator representing Bayelsa West, has declared that the opposition party is doing its candidates a favour by providing them a platform to contest the 2027 elections, rather than the other way around.
Speaking on Arise Television’s Prime Time programme on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, Dickson pushed back against suggestions that the NDC should be grateful to Peter Obi, its adopted presidential candidate, or any other political figure who joined the party.
“Don’t make it look like anyone is doing NDC a favour. No one is,” Dickson said. “Rather, the NDC and I and my colleagues are doing people a favour by granting our platform.”
He urged supporters of Peter Obi to stop disparaging the party or its leaders, warning that such attacks undermine the very platform carrying their candidate.
