Anambra Govt Lawyers Absent in Court as Bishop Nwankpa’s Fake Pastor Case Stalls

The ongoing case against Abia-born cleric, Bishop Emeka Nwankpa, took a dramatic turn on Monday as lawyers representing the Anambra State Government failed to appear in court.

At the resumed hearing, Bishop Nwankpa was defended by a formidable legal team comprising three Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs) and seven other lawyers. They were present to challenge allegations by the Anambra State Government that the General Overseer of Chapel of Faith Bible Assembly, Onitsha, is a “fake pastor.”

However, the absence of the Attorney General of Anambra State and other government counsel meant the presiding judge could not proceed with the matter. The case was subsequently adjourned to Friday, June 19, 2026, for further hearing.

Meanwhile, hundreds of worshippers and supporters thronged the court premises in solidarity with Bishop Nwankpa, expressing confidence that justice would prevail.
