Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has appeared before the Federal High Court in Kaduna for the continuation of his corruption trial.
El-Rufai arrived under tight security, escorted by officials of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), and personnel of the Nigeria Police Force.
The case centers on allegations of abuse of office, fraud, and financial misconduct during his time in office. Prosecutors claim that public funds were released for projects that were either left unexecuted or poorly managed.
El-Rufai, however, has consistently denied the accusations, insisting on his innocence.
At Monday’s sitting, the court is expected to hear further motions and arguments from both the prosecution and defense as proceedings continue.
