The Plateau State Police Command has confirmed that three security operatives were killed during an attack on the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, in the early hours of Monday.

In a statement issued Tuesday in Jos, Police Public Relations Officer SP Alfred Alabo described the incident as “regrettable,” noting that the operatives lost their lives while on duty at the institute.

The command announced that security has been reinforced around the facility, with patrols intensified under the directive of Commissioner of Police, CP Bassey Ewah.

Authorities assured residents that calm has returned to the area and normal activities have resumed.

“The situation is under control and normal activities have resumed. Investigation is ongoing,” the statement read, urging members of the public to remain calm and continue with their lawful activities.

The attack represents one of the most serious breaches at NIPSS in recent years. The institute is Nigeria’s premier policy training
