The El-Rufai Support Group Association (ERSGA) has engaged Washington-based advocacy firm Vanguard Africa to spearhead an international campaign highlighting what it calls the erosion of rule of law and abuse of due process in Nigeria.
In a statement released Wednesday, ERSGA said Vanguard Africa would coordinate outreach to U.S. administration officials, members of Congress, relevant agencies, pro-democracy institutions, and multilateral stakeholders.
A regulatory filing with the U.S. Department of State confirmed the firm’s mandate to plan and execute these engagements.
The campaign centers on former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, whom the group described as a “reformer and senior statesman with decades of public service.”
El-Rufai has reportedly been detained by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) since February, with bail hearings repeatedly delayed.
ERSGA rejected the ICPC’s allegations of abuse of office, financial impropriety, and fraud, citing “alarming procedural irregularities.”
