Ekiti Decides: Ex-Senator Ojudu Decries BVAS Malfunction at Polling Unit

Former presidential adviser and ex-senator, Babafemi Ojudu, has raised concerns over the malfunctioning of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) during the Ekiti State governorship election.

Ojudu, who voted at Ereguru, Ward 8, Ado Ekiti, experienced a brief delay after the machine failed to accredit two voters ahead of him. 

Speaking after casting his ballot, he described the accreditation process as “cumbersome” and warned that the glitches could discourage voter participation if not urgently addressed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

“The turnout of voters is impressive, but the technical glitches associated with the BVAS machine can discourage participation if not urgently addressed,” Ojudu said. 

He noted that capturing his fingerprints and photograph took considerable time, raising doubts about how long it would take to process hundreds of voters.

Despite the challenges, Ojudu commended the peaceful conduct of voters, particularly the elderly who arrived as early as 7 a.m. to exercise their civic responsibility.
