Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued 22 kidnapped victims and thwarted separate abduction attempts in Sabon Birni and Isa Local Government Areas of Sokoto State.
According to Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, the operations were carried out on June 18 following intelligence reports and distress calls from affected communities.
In the first incident along the Sabon Birni–Shinkafi Road at Kura Mota Village, terrorists blocked the highway, attacked two civilian vehicles, and abducted passengers.
One civilian was killed before troops intervened. Danja said: “Acting swiftly, troops mobilised to the scene and launched a coordinated pursuit supported by aerial surveillance. Consequently, 17 kidnapped passengers were rescued.”
In a separate operation at Chohi Village in Isa LGA, troops responded to an attempted abduction of farmers.
