Fubara Submits Medium Expenditure Framework to Rivers Assembly

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has formally submitted the 2026-2028 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) to the Rivers State House of Assembly for consideration and approval.

Speaker of the House, Martin Amaewhule, confirmed receipt of the document during an emergency plenary session held on Thursday morning. However, the Assembly deferred further debate on the framework to a later date and subsequently adjourned sitting.

The submission marks a significant fiscal development as the House had not convened for approximately four months. Its last sitting was in February, when it screened commissioner-nominees sent by the governor before adjourning sine die. Earlier in January 2026, the Assembly had initiated impeachment proceedings against Governor Fubara.

Details on the content of the Medium Term Expenditure Framework are expected to be made public once the House begins its review.
