2027: ICPC Warns INEC Officials Against Result Manipulation

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has cautioned officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Borno State to avoid corrupt practices, especially result manipulation and compromise of electoral procedures, as Nigeria prepares for the 2027 general elections.  

  

The warning was issued by the ICPC Resident Anti-Corruption Commissioner for Borno and Yobe states, Linus Gubbi, during a sensitisation workshop held in Maiduguri on Wednesday. 

The event aimed to promote integrity, accountability, and transparency among electoral officers.  

  

“Democracy is about free, fair and credible elections. The credibility of elections depends on the character and compliance culture of those entrusted with conducting them,” Gubbi stated. 

  

He emphasised ICPC’s mandate to prevent corruption, describing the workshop as essential for educating officials directly involved in elections on the need to uphold integrity and avoid all forms of corrupt practices.
