Armed bandits stormed the Igbosi area of Idogun in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State in the early hours of Friday, destroying homes and abducting a nine-year-old boy.
The assailants reportedly arrived around 1:30 a.m., firing sporadically to instill fear among residents.
Two houses were damaged during the attack before the child, identified as Master Victor Olaosebikan, son of Pastor Isaac Olaosebikan, was taken away to an unknown location.
Witnesses said many residents fled into nearby communities to escape the gunfire.Confirming the incident, Ondo State Police spokesperson, DSP Abayomi, stated that a coordinated manhunt had been launched with the support of the Amotekun Corps.
Security operatives are combing forests and escape routes to rescue the boy and apprehend the perpetrators.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Felix Ohagwu, has directed tactical teams and intelligence units to intensify efforts to ensure the victim’s safe return and bring the attackers to justice.
