Radda rolls out solar-powered schools, climate reforms in fresh development initiatives

…Approves installation of 2,000 modular kiosks

Katsina State governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, has secured Executive Council approval for a series of initiatives aimed at transforming the Almajiri education system, strengthening climate resilience and boosting small-scale enterprises across the state.

The approvals were granted during the 9th Regular Meeting of the State Executive Council held at the General Muhammadu Buhari House in Katsina.

Briefing journalists after the meeting, Commissioner for Information, Dr. Bala Salisu Zango, said the decisions reflect the administration’s determination to address critical social and economic challenges through targeted interventions.

One of the key decisions was the approval for the procurement and installation of solar-powered lighting systems in Tsangaya schools located in all 361 wards of the state.

Special Adviser on Power and Energy, Dr. Hafiz Ahmed, said the project would improve learning conditions for Almajiri pupils, especially during evening lessons, while enhancing safety within the schools.
