The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress in Sokoto State, Hon. Manir Muhammad Dan’iya, has blamed both the Federal and Sokoto State governments for what he described as the worsening security situation following the reported abduction of more than 50 residents of Garin Idi, the hometown of Deputy Governor Idris Mohammed Gobir.
Dan’iya said the attack underscored the deteriorating state of security in Sokoto, noting that communities linked to top government officials were no longer spared from the activities of armed criminal groups.
In a statement issued on Thursday by his Media Aide, Aminu Abdullahi, the ADC governorship candidate lamented the recurring attacks, kidnappings and killings across the state, saying it reflected the inability of the government at both levels to fulfil their constitutional responsibility of protecting lives and property.
