The lawmaker representing Aba North and South Federal Constituency, Hon. Alex Mascot Ikwechegh, has applauded President Bola Tinubu, Minister of Defence Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Christopher Gwabin Musa, Governor Seyi Makinde and Nigeria’s security agencies for securing the release of pupils and teachers abducted in Oyo State after more than 50 days in captivity.
Ikwechegh described the successful rescue as a testament to what can be achieved through collaboration, intelligence sharing and a coordinated security response.
He commended the Federal Government, the Oyo State Government and security operatives for working together to bring the victims home safely.
The operation freed 39 schoolchildren and six teachers, while authorities also announced the arrest of suspected kidnappers.
The federal lawmaker said the development has renewed hope among Nigerians, noting that responsive leadership and decisive action remain critical to addressing the country’s security challenges. He also sympathised with the families
