The Kaduna State Government has commenced a three-day mid-year review of the revenue performance of its 52 revenue-generating Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in a move aimed at improving internally generated revenue, strengthening fiscal accountability and ensuring effective implementation of the 2026 budget.
The exercise, organised by the Ministry of Planning and Budget, is expected to improve government revenue collection, enhance public service delivery and provide additional resources for infrastructure, healthcare, education and other development projects in the second half of the fiscal year.
Speaking at the opening of the review on Monday in Kaduna, the Commissioner for Planning and Budget, Mulktar Ahmed, described revenue as the backbone of governance and sustainable development, stressing that no government can successfully implement its budget without adequate income.
He explained that every budget consists of two key components—revenue and expenditure—and that revenue performance determines the government’s capacity to execute developmental programmes.
