Orji Uzor Kalu, the chairman of the Senate Committee on the South East Development Commission, has described the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria as “the conscience of the country,” urging President Bola Tinubu and members of his administration to carefully reflect on the concerns raised by the clerics over the state of the nation.
Kalu, who represents Abia North Senatorial District, said the bishops’ intervention should not be viewed as an attack on the President but as sincere counsel aimed at improving governance and addressing the challenges confronting Nigerians.
Speaking in a video posted on his Facebook page, while reacting to the recent meeting between Tinubu and members of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria, the former Abia State governor said,”To me, the Catholic Bishops are the conscience of the country.
