Anchor of Arise Television’s The Morning Show, Rufai Oseni, on Monday accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) government of hypocrisy in its reaction to recent comments by Cardinal John Onaiyekan on Nigeria’s economic and social challenges.
Oseni recalled that in 2014, during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan, the APC praised Onaiyekan as a “voice of reason” after his visit to the Presidential Villa, where he criticized the state of the nation. He noted that the party celebrated the Catholic cleric’s courage and amplified his remarks in the build-up to the 2015 elections.
However, Oseni argued that the same party has now turned against Onaiyekan for making similar observations under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
