Three minors abducted from Awun community in Oro-Ago, Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, have regained their freedom after residents reportedly raised and paid N60 million ransom to their kidnappers, four months after they were taken away.
The victims, said to be between the ages of four and 15, were reportedly kidnapped from their home in February while their father, Olajide Buraimoh, was away.
Community sources told our correspondent on Wednesday that the ransom was raised through contributions from residents and indigenes living in the diaspora after prolonged negotiations with the abductors.
A source familiar with the development narrated to our correspondent on condition of anonymity that the kidnappers also demanded food items and other supplies before releasing the children.
The items allegedly included two 50kg bags of rice, 20 litres of groundnut oil, a carton of spaghetti, 10kg of semovita, assorted beer and seasoning sauce, among others.
