The Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council (JNPSNC), Trade Union Side, has called on the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, to urgently convene a meeting to address delayed payments of workers’ entitlements.
In a letter signed by the council’s National Secretary, Gbenga Olowoyo, on behalf of National Chairman Benjamin Yanto, the union expressed concern over the non-payment of two months’ wage awards and the failure to implement the 40 per cent peculiar allowance for federal workers.
The JNPSNC warned that if the issues are not resolved by August 11, unrest among public servants could erupt. It noted that two earlier letters sent to the minister in May and July 2026 had gone unanswered.
“The national leadership expects that this meeting will help to address the above-stated outstanding issues to prevent palpable disquiet and the brewing industrial crisis,” the letter stated.
The union explained that the allowance was approved
