The Lagos Waste Management Authority has sealed several markets, shopping complexes and commercial premises along the Ikotun-Igando axis for environmental violations as it intensifies enforcement against indiscriminate waste disposal across the state.
The enforcement was carried out on Saturday by LAWMA’s Project WISE West team along the LASU-Igando Road corridor in Alimosho Local Government Area, following repeated dumping of refuse on road medians despite previous warnings and environmental advocacy efforts.
Among the premises sealed were Owode Market, Omo Oba Shopping Complex, Oja Oba Market, Irewolede Market, Egan Junction Market, BoA Shopping Complex, and Blissful Electronics Stores, along with several other shops and commercial premises.
The authority also issued fresh notices of intention to seal markets, shops and plazas along the Ojuelegba-Lawanson-Itire corridor as part of a wider enforcement campaign targeting environmental non-compliance.
